Impressive

Notice his buddy in the video mentions a 41" vertical. Lebron James has a 44" vertical.

Summer Lake Trips - Part 1

So the first lake trip was fun. We had a fish fry, not including any fish that we caught, because we didn't catch any. Instead of taking the boat to a bar, we instead turned the lake into a bar, using waverunners. A pretty good time. I about blew my ear drums due to the 12 speaker madness we experienced Saturday at the neighbors. Obviously my DJ skills need to be brushed up for the summer.

Trip One Letter Grade: B+

Contributing Factors (cons):
- No Fish
- No Coving (on the boat)
- No Bars

Contributing Factors (pros):
- Fish Fry
- Waverunner Coving
- Garage Party

Negative Correlation

I've been learning a little about positive and negative correlations lately through Slick's classwork. Here's one for you: The more the Royals lose, the less I watch ESPN or anything sports related.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho it's off to LOTO I Go

Welcome back readers, or should I welcome myself back? Either way, I'm back and it's good to have you with me.

Slick and I are venturing down to the big lake this weekend with the Shippee's. Remember them? There we will be greeted by a new couple that the idea comes has not yet been introduced to, Brentley. That little nickname was coined by none other than Ship Dog himself.

Plans for the weekend - South Bound to the 44
- Fish with my banjo minnows
- Catch Crappie
- Shippee teach me how to clean crappie so I can be a "real man"
- Drink beer
- Boat ride to a fun lake tavern
- Card Games
- Skinny Dip (depends on how much of step #4 takes place)

I'm excited for my first lake trip of the summer and look forward to a post or two on the weekend.

Stay tuned, Royals post to come later today.

Vegas Return

This picture does a pretty good job of illustrating how I feel after the Vegas trip. Other than being completely exhausted, the trip was a success.

Slack got so smashed, 2 of the 4 nights she slept on the floor. I was proud of the youngster. Slick and I had fun showing her how to do it right. We each had our own night of debauchery to brag about. Mine happened to be the last night we were there and I managed to pass out at 10:30 p.m. Pretty weak way to finish the trip.

I did pretty good on the gambling front. I won all three of my final 4 bets, won $100 on slots, only lost $60 on black jack and then hit 4 of 6 horse’s on my last day there. I was pretty pumped.

The grand total of my 4 nights in Vegas was $342.50. And $60.00 of that is in outstanding bets that I put on the Royals to win the central. Odds on Sunday, when I placed my bet were 8 to 1. So I will win $480 if it comes to fruition. Monday, when I placed the bet for my buddy, ship-diggity-dog, the odds were 11 to 1. So if the Royals win the central he will make $440. I should have waited a day. Oh well, if there is a playoff game at the K this year, the $480 will be a consolation prize.

Grade for Vegas Trip 2009 = A-

Tonight, We Go To Vegas!

Slick and Family, as well as yours truly, will be on a plane to Vegas this evening. The trip is to celebrate slick's little sis' birthday. In honor of her 21st I will anoint her with a blog name, from this point forward, her name shall be "slack".

In vegas, I plan on placing a bet on two things:

- Chiefs winning the West
- Royals winning the Central

That will give me a little extra motivation to root my teams into the playoffs. Can you imagine a playoff game at the K? I can't, the last time it happened I was barely able to walk.

Did I mention I was going to Vegas tonight?

March Madness Eve

Alleluia it is here. Along with the better weather comes a bundle of joy in the form of college basketball. How far will your team go? It appears I have an abundance of readers that are Mizzou fans or an abundance of readers that have no faith in the Jayhawks. Even Whitie is doubting the Jayhawks. When Whitie doubts the Hawks, you know it’s a bad sign. I personally have the Hawks going to sweet 16 and the Tigers all the way to the final 4 baby!

I hope everyone has their brackets in. The madness ensues with LSU vs. Butler at 12:20 EST tomorrow. I hope to get the least amount of work done as possible tomorrow. I hear that ncaa.com/mmod will have all the games streaming live and the site includes a “boss” button in case someone tries to peek over your cubicle.

Back to TPS reports for me.

Just Speculation

There are rumors floating around Kansas City that the above pictured individual is going to be the Chiefs new defensive coordinator. Everything has been done very slowly and very secretively in KC since the firing of the GM formerly known as King Carl. I guess only time will tell. IPIT.

Eastside and up.

Signing Off

I'm taking off tomorrow and Monday, so the blog posts will be few and far between. It's been a good week, hopefully I can bring it back strong again next week. For now, I have my mind on some early spring bass. I'll be at the lake tomorrow if you need me.

Night Train

Chuga Chuga Chuga Chuga Choo Chooo! Watch out for the KC Night Train this Saturday. We are rolling out to Lawrence in style for Ship’s bachelor party. We are scheduled to attend one of the classiest gentlemen’s clubs this side of the Mississippi. The night is guaranteed to include the following:

-One person sleeping in the bathroom
-One person losing this month’s paycheck at the Casino
-One person trying to take a stripper home
-One person spending this month’s paycheck trying to get a stripper home
-Ok, two people sleeping in the bathroom

Let the countdown begin. Chuga Chuga Chuga Chuga Night Train!

Looking Forward

To next weekend that is. North Kansas City holds it's annual Snake Saturday parade to celebrate the snakes being driven out of Ireland (I think that's what it's for). Here is the website if you're interested. I like how they say the parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. sharp, regardless of weather conditions. And I just found out that regardless of their wedding being the following weekend, Ship & T$ will be there. I'm excited.

Please Cast Your Vote to the Right

First Wednesday'

You can always tell when it is the first Wednesday of the month when you hear that high pitched hum in the air. It is certainly a lot scarier when you hear that siren Mid-April with a dark ominous sky.

For those of you not familiar with the sound, watch the video below and you'll understand.

Chiefs Look Into Veterans

The Chiefs are looking into signing two oldies but goodies - Clark Haggans, outside linebacker, formerly of the Steelers and most recently the Cardinals & Bobby Engram, seasoned wideout from the Seahawks who recently acquired TJ Housh.

I'm not totally against adding some veterean leadership to the team. I think that is what we were lacking last year. I just don't want to see it get too out of had with a bunch of old players. For now, in Pioli I trust.

Just throwing this out there - Starting linebacking core for the 2009-2010 Chiefs:

-Mike Vrabel
-Clark Haggans
-Derek Johnson
-Aaron Curry

I'd be ok with that.

Getting to Know Matt Cassel

Matt Cassel, the newest member of the Kansas City Chiefs was born May 17, 1982 in Northridge, California, a community of 68,000, in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. In his early years, Matt Cassel was the starting first baseman on the Northridge baseball team that reached the finals of the 1994 Little League World Series.

Matt attended Chatsworth High School and was a letterman, an all-city selection, and a standout in both football and baseball. Matt signed a scholarship to play quarterback for the USC Trojans where he spent four years on the squad. Unfortunately for Matt, he played backup to two Heisman trophy winners, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart.

Matt played one season of baseball for USC in 2004, and was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 36th round of the 2004 MLB Draft. Matt passed on that opportunity and was eventually drafted by the New England Patriots as the 16th pick in the 7th round of the 2005 NFL draft. In that year’s draft, the Kansas City Chiefs had the pick before New England (#15, 229 overall) in the 7th round where they selected James Kilian, QB Tulsa.

Who knows where the Kansas City Franchise would be if had they decided to select Matt instead. All we do know now, is that as we embark on this new era of Kansas City Chiefs football, there is a new order of business at 1 Arrowhead Drive. Will it breed winning? Only time will tell.

Butt Kicking

This is what Kansas did to Missouri yesterday. I tried to get Slick to leave the game at halftime but she wouldn't buy into it. It was just plain brutal.

Happy March

10 things I like about the month of March in no particular order:

1. NCAA Conference Tournaments
2. NCAA Tournament
3. Snake Saturday
4. St. Patrick’s Day
5. The First Day of Spring
6. Ship & T$’s Wedding (this year only)
7. Putting the Boat Back in the Water
8. Putting the Wave Runner Back in the Water
9. Higher Average Temperature Than February
10. Daylight Savings Time

Lake, Summer - I Miss You

I pulled this pic off Google images. Well, I pull all my pics from Google images. Very few are actually my own. I'm sure that is no shocker to anyone. Anyways, the picture above appears to be taken from the dam at the lake I call home in the summer. How I wish it was summer now. The worst part about my summer is everyone one of my friends is getting married. That takes away precious lake time for this guy. Quite the bummer. They better have some damn good open bars. Speaking of open bars, I would love one of these.

It's Back

The rivalry, that is. It has been taking a nap for the past four years but I am glad to see it awaken. I mean, when the KU/MU football game is the pinnacle of the sports clash, you know something is wrong. That has certainly been fun though. But you can rest assured, after Kansas blew a 14 point lead in the second half on February 9 and Missouri came out with a 62-60 victory, there will be some unhappy birds come Sunday. The best part is, Slick and I will be in attendance. She will be rooting for the Hawks and yours truly will, of course, be rooting for the Tigers.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

I hope everyone can make it to church today. I am giving up fast food for lent. This will be good for two reasons:

1. I won't be as fat as I normally would after the next 40 days.
2. I will prove to God I can resist a double cheesburger value meal for a month and a half.

Amen

Next Idea

This idea isn't actually original because I think Slick's mom has said it a few times. But please tell me why homeless people would live in Kansas City. I mean shit. It is cold here for a good portion of the year. Why not walk your happy ass south and get some sun. I mean, what else do you have to do in your spare time? Sit under a cold ass bridge and watch people driving around.

Somebody please help me rationalize this. I mean, it's not like they have family they are staying in town for. If that was the case, they wouldn't be homeless. I just don't get it.

I had an Idea

This is my first idea in awhile and I though I should share it with the depleted audience I have left. So here you go.

We had a nice Valentine's Day dinner over at our friends house this weekend. My buddy went and bought 6 nice filets from the local Omaha Steak Store.

This is how I ordered my steak to be cooked:

That is a delicious medium rare.

This is how my steak was prepared:

Thanks for having me over though buddy, I really do appreciate it. I thought you had the "quarter turn" down to a chicken wire science. I guess it is back to the practice field.

Damn Phil

Little bastard saw his shadow. I'm sick of the cold. Ready for the lake.

I Have a Blog?

You could have fooled me. I'm not going to lie, I completely forgot I even posted stuff to this online forum. I dawned on me last night. I'll end that thought with my new favorite song.

My Next Phone

Chiefs Hire GM

He's ugly but I'll take em. Now on to a new coach.

Not Everyone Likes the Longhorns

This video stems from the Ohio State loss in the Fiesta Bowl last week.

Lil Wayne

Yes he was very good in concert. He rocked the Sprint Center for about 5 hours. Did you know that lil wayne is the narrater of this mysterious Gatorade spot?

American Idol 2009

Hopefully the 2009 American Idol will produce the same great videos as the one below. The reaction in the video is similar to how slick reacted when I accidentally didn't record the ending of last year's competition. When Ryan Seacrest said the winner is.....David....that was the end of our DVR. Slick was not happy with me. It still makes me giggle to this day.

Boat Show Baby!

The boat show has rolled into KC this week and I will be attending tonight. If all goes well we will be starting the ’09 lake season in the 23”2’ beauty pictured above.

Funny story. My step-dad, we’ll call him “Brockness”, has been toying with the idea of getting a new baby for the lake. Our darling is pushing 10 years of age and it’s about time for an update. I, being the sneaky bastard I am, signed him up for collateral material from three main boat manufacturers in the Midwest. He has been getting hit with new boat messaging all winter. I’ll let you know if it worked.

Downtown Grocery!

If you live anywhere west of Pittsburgh and land a grocery store downtown, it is just plain exciting. Well KC, today is your day to jump for joy.

Cosentino's opens downtown KC.

That's right E, in the Power & Light District.

Heck, while I'm at it, I may as well mention that we are a top 5 destination to watch for in 2009 according to SmarterTravel.com

Another Reason

This article just reinforces my previous post and is the next TV I will purchase sometime down the road.

The Fall of Blu Ray

I've personally been saying it for about the past year, ever since HD-DVD failed to prosper, that Blu Ray has a limited life expectancy. There are just too many online/on-demand portals delivering High Definition viewing. You can write this down, DVD's in general, will be extinct in five years, if not sooner. And I am not opposed to that one bit.

Live streaming HD is hard to beat. Just ask anyone that has an Xbox 360, Apple TV or any other set top box. The quality is top-notch and you don't have to leave your couch. Blockbuster should have listened to the smart people at Enron when they said to move towards on-demand viewing in 1998. The other group that really missed the mark is cable companies. They were the first ones to roll out video-on-demand. They just couldn't capture the mass like the other media companies are currently doing.

Lil Wayne

Just signed up for the company suite tickets for the lil wayne concert. I don't want to jinx myself but I have been known to win the suite tickets on the regular. Lil WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYNNNNNEEEE!

Big Game

Quite the game this evening. Not only is it a chance for the Big 12 to reign superior over the Big 10, but it is a chance for Texas to secure a split national title with the winner Thursday.

If Oklahoma were to pick up a sloppy victory over Florida and Texas dominates Ohio State the way they are capable of, this might actually happen. Maybe then, my sister "wawa" will be a happy camper again.

Go UT! Beat those nailbreakers! <----First commenter post for the person that correctly identifies the movie and actor that last line came from.

Welcome Back

That was a nice long vacation if I do say so myself (no I didn't relax on a beach - just my sofa). I know some of you had to work a bit more than I but anything helps right?

I had a fun break getting to hang out with all the siblings. A-man had enough after a week but Slick and I convinced Babo to stay in town a few extra days and blow off all his responsibilities in H-town. Didn't take much arm twisting. We had a good time. I'll try to throw up some new year's pics later this week.

I was fortunate enough to kill a goose or two this break. Ok, it was one and split the kill by 4. Pretty bad shooting that day, but fun.

Welcome back to work everyone. I vow to make 2009 a blog heavy year. Hope you all enjoy.

Things to look forward to:

- First ever commenter post (coming soon)

- Weekly KC Sports report

- Remember "Who's Hotter"? I'm bringing it back.

- And much, much more!
