March Madness Eve

Alleluia it is here. Along with the better weather comes a bundle of joy in the form of college basketball. How far will your team go? It appears I have an abundance of readers that are Mizzou fans or an abundance of readers that have no faith in the Jayhawks. Even Whitie is doubting the Jayhawks. When Whitie doubts the Hawks, you know it’s a bad sign. I personally have the Hawks going to sweet 16 and the Tigers all the way to the final 4 baby!

I hope everyone has their brackets in. The madness ensues with LSU vs. Butler at 12:20 EST tomorrow. I hope to get the least amount of work done as possible tomorrow. I hear that ncaa.com/mmod will have all the games streaming live and the site includes a “boss” button in case someone tries to peek over your cubicle.

Back to TPS reports for me.

Just Speculation

There are rumors floating around Kansas City that the above pictured individual is going to be the Chiefs new defensive coordinator. Everything has been done very slowly and very secretively in KC since the firing of the GM formerly known as King Carl. I guess only time will tell. IPIT.

Eastside and up.

Signing Off

I'm taking off tomorrow and Monday, so the blog posts will be few and far between. It's been a good week, hopefully I can bring it back strong again next week. For now, I have my mind on some early spring bass. I'll be at the lake tomorrow if you need me.

Night Train

Chuga Chuga Chuga Chuga Choo Chooo! Watch out for the KC Night Train this Saturday. We are rolling out to Lawrence in style for Ship’s bachelor party. We are scheduled to attend one of the classiest gentlemen’s clubs this side of the Mississippi. The night is guaranteed to include the following:

-One person sleeping in the bathroom
-One person losing this month’s paycheck at the Casino
-One person trying to take a stripper home
-One person spending this month’s paycheck trying to get a stripper home
-Ok, two people sleeping in the bathroom

Let the countdown begin. Chuga Chuga Chuga Chuga Night Train!

Looking Forward

To next weekend that is. North Kansas City holds it's annual Snake Saturday parade to celebrate the snakes being driven out of Ireland (I think that's what it's for). Here is the website if you're interested. I like how they say the parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. sharp, regardless of weather conditions. And I just found out that regardless of their wedding being the following weekend, Ship & T$ will be there. I'm excited.

First Wednesday'

You can always tell when it is the first Wednesday of the month when you hear that high pitched hum in the air. It is certainly a lot scarier when you hear that siren Mid-April with a dark ominous sky.

For those of you not familiar with the sound, watch the video below and you'll understand.

Chiefs Look Into Veterans

The Chiefs are looking into signing two oldies but goodies - Clark Haggans, outside linebacker, formerly of the Steelers and most recently the Cardinals & Bobby Engram, seasoned wideout from the Seahawks who recently acquired TJ Housh.

I'm not totally against adding some veterean leadership to the team. I think that is what we were lacking last year. I just don't want to see it get too out of had with a bunch of old players. For now, in Pioli I trust.

Just throwing this out there - Starting linebacking core for the 2009-2010 Chiefs:

-Mike Vrabel
-Clark Haggans
-Derek Johnson
-Aaron Curry

I'd be ok with that.

Getting to Know Matt Cassel

Matt Cassel, the newest member of the Kansas City Chiefs was born May 17, 1982 in Northridge, California, a community of 68,000, in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. In his early years, Matt Cassel was the starting first baseman on the Northridge baseball team that reached the finals of the 1994 Little League World Series.

Matt attended Chatsworth High School and was a letterman, an all-city selection, and a standout in both football and baseball. Matt signed a scholarship to play quarterback for the USC Trojans where he spent four years on the squad. Unfortunately for Matt, he played backup to two Heisman trophy winners, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart.

Matt played one season of baseball for USC in 2004, and was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 36th round of the 2004 MLB Draft. Matt passed on that opportunity and was eventually drafted by the New England Patriots as the 16th pick in the 7th round of the 2005 NFL draft. In that year’s draft, the Kansas City Chiefs had the pick before New England (#15, 229 overall) in the 7th round where they selected James Kilian, QB Tulsa.

Who knows where the Kansas City Franchise would be if had they decided to select Matt instead. All we do know now, is that as we embark on this new era of Kansas City Chiefs football, there is a new order of business at 1 Arrowhead Drive. Will it breed winning? Only time will tell.

Butt Kicking

This is what Kansas did to Missouri yesterday. I tried to get Slick to leave the game at halftime but she wouldn't buy into it. It was just plain brutal.
